David J. Grabelski

Chair Department of Intelligence Studies, Assistant Professor

Education and Academic Interests

Mr. Grabelski currently serves as the Chair  of the Intelligence Studies and as an Assistant Professor. He holds a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and a M.A. from Pepperdine University.  He specializes in law enforcement intelligence and is a former instructor with the US Department of Justice / National Drug Intelligence Center.  He has twenty years of service with the Los Angeles Police Department as a Homicide Detective and Gang Unit Supervisor.

Activities

  • Developed academic-based training courses in law enforcement intelligence and advanced critical thinking techniques for police executives.
  • Developed training for foreign police officers and managers in the identification and development of intelligence, intelligence management, and intelligence for countering domestic and transnational terrorism.
  • Established on-going internships with Office of the PA State Attorney General Northwest PA Methamphetamine Clandestine Laboratory Task Force
  • Established on-going internships with the City of Erie Graffiti Task Force and serves as a board member
  • He served as the faculty academic advisor for a 2005 National Collegiate FBI Case Study Competition entitled “Create a short-term and long-term strategic plan for the FBI to succeed in its enhanced intelligence and counterterrorism role.” The 5-student member team was awarded a first place after their submission of a report and a presentation of their paper at the FBI’s headquarters building to FBI senior managers.
