Mercyhurst intel studies prof earns top honors at SCIP conference

When Mercyhurst College intelligence studies faculty Daniel Mulligan arrived at the annual conference of Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) May 9 in Orlando, Fla., he was surprised to learn that his appearance the previous year had earned him “Best Conference Presentation” out of a field of approximately 75 presenters.

DANIEL MULLIGAN

Mulligan received a plaque recognizing his accomplishment at this year’s meetings. His winning 2010 presentation, which he delivered with Melissa Napolitano, a second-year graduate student at the time, was titled “Polishing a Diamond: Making Good CI Products Great!”

“It’s a significant honor because there are so many competitive intelligence thought leaders who attend this conference each year,” Mulligan said. “I am gratified to be recognized.”

This year, Mulligan said, SCIP moved his presentation from a meeting room to the grand ballroom because more than 150 attendees had signed up for it. His topic was “Improving SWOT Analysis with Structured Analysis of Competing Hypothesis (SACH).”
